A Little Love

I can’t give

What I do have

Despite my valiant efforts

But what good are tries

When the saddest eyes of loneliness

Are in your midst

When you taste resentment in the kiss

But you know

They’ll never speak it

 For showing any weakness

Only proved

That they’ve allowed you to dictate

Never moved

Never stuttered

To utter a word against

Could ultimately mean the end

For a period?

No, it’s more clever

To grasp to what little is there

And gasping

And be content

With love’s bittersweet air
